Tuesday, May 01, 2007 (12:00:00) - Foodies Gather 'Round!
Well, here it is, the site devoted to the Foodie on the Georgia Coast, or anyone that would like to share the experience our food has to offer.

Foodie is a relatively new term. It was first coined in The Official Foodie Handbook by Ann Barr and Paul Levy back in 1984. Wikipedia says that the term ?Foodie is often used by the media as a conversational synonym for gourmet.?

What? I may be a foodie, but I am by no means a gourmet. I also know several gourmets that would turn their noses up to the term ?foodie?. So what is a foodie exactly?

To me, a foodie is someone who has a hankering for food. We all have to eat it, or we?ll die. A foodie relishes in food. It?s not merely a love for one type of food, like chocolate. A chocolate lover may or may not be a foodie. A chocolate lover who is obsessed with finding or creating the perfect mousse is a foodie.

A foodie loves trying things from all over. He may have a favorite style and may be a good cook, but he is adventurous. He?s looking forward to that next favorite dish, drink, or restaurant.

It?s the foodie that I?m going to try to please with my new site, CoastalGeorgiaFood.com. My goal is to bring information together in one place that?s all about food on the Georgia Coast, or the Low Country as some have been known to call it. My goal is to make CoastalGeorgiaFood.com the web portal for anyone who loves food on the Georgia Coast.

CoastalGeorgiaFood.com will be packed with recipes for both food and drink, restaurant and bar reviews, a food events calendar, and links to some other great foodie sites. I am by no means an authority on food, I just love it. I also know I won?t be able to do all of this by myself. I need your help. Without you as a visitor and contributor, this site would be nothing. So please, post your favorite recipes, share some of your favorite restaurants, dishes, or recipes, comment on the articles, and with your help, we?ll make CoastalGeorgiaFood.com the web portal for the Coastal Georgia Foodie!
